Some of the music that has originated in Brazil includes samba, choro, bassa nova, frevo, forro, maracaty, and axe.

Samba has been regarded as the country's national music.  Samba originated in the state of Bahia.  The music originally developed by mixing European and African music together.  It was brought by slaves during the Colonial Period.
